Hey all :) Happy Day 11!
Laugh is another day of another precious medicine, something sweet and certainly relatable that has the power to crack (heal) even the toughest among us :)Â
If you wish, tell us a story about a memorable laugh, recently or sometime before. Bonus points if you give us a new laugh here of our own ;)
For me, there was one occasion 8-ish years ago I had a truly ecstatic laugh that came when I was deep in thought, deep inside of myself. It carried me up, out, and away like a fountain - also physically! The visual was so clear: I saw the laugh bloom inside my body as it developed, like an evergreen literally made out of pure gold. I’ll never forget it, and how freely I moved with that laugh as it continued for several more minutes :)
Another aspect of this prompt: last month, there was one word which felt so provocative for me because of its pluralization (Miracles, as opposed to Miracle). In Miracles existed a completely different quality than Miracle which was fascinating and rewarding to explore.Â
This prompt is a similar provocation. Laugh - the laugh, a laugh, your laugh - versus laughter. What is evoked in its singularity, its distinction? Who are you in relation to your laugh?
Happy writing!
Laugh
#1
To laugh or not to laugh,
The answer’s a fair preponderance.
But if I feel better when I feel my best,
Laughs obviously come with fondness.
This was a multi part journey for me today; there were a few non-contiguous aspects that wanted to come through today. Here is number two.
#2
Up
Up
Out and away
The laugh springs forth
From my jiggling belly.
I don’t know if I tried to contain it,
And really I don’t care,
What matters now
Is that you can find it
Out here right in the air.
The laugh bursts
Through in furious delight,
Exploding across the room,
Up
Up
Out and away
As it mightily went for a zoom.
We ducked just in time.
And then the third.
A laugh is the medicine That breaks the habit, Cuts through the stagnant, Releases the tension, Clears the confusion, And leads up to the euphoria Of a life well carried, A life well worn, A life well tested, A life well loved, And a life well lived As a joyful heart in a sea of souls

Laugh
I feel stuck
between
the past and the future
between
heaven and hell
between
life and death
what can someone do
in that situation
but remember
and hope
remember
those laughs
from loved ones
some start
subtly
with a smirk
that builds
to a smirk and smile
and finally
leaving the lips
with a chuckle
others
can't be contained
exploding
out from deep within
to a belly giggling
expression of fun
points of someone
spits out their drink
remembering
those many times
that life was good
and joyful
brings hope
that they will
return to that place
of peace and laughs
whether it is a
fart joke
like those that my grandfather
enjoyed even late into dementia
or something funny
that happens
out of nowhere it seems
misspoken words
a good joke
both childhood
knock know jokes
and slightly adult jokes
can disrupt
the status quo
revealing the
"emperor's new clothes"
are but a statement
of resistance
in a world of
control and oppression
trauma and violence
a laugh is something
beyond this world
at times
a spiritual
breakthrough
into the weariness
of time and place
that seems hell bent
on crushing joy
to laugh
is connect with
a truth beyond
stodgy and stuff
forced conformity
a vast eternity
of creative energy
sustaining life
